CAMBODIA  -  APRIL 08, 2005:  Garment workers at the New Island Factory in Phnom Penh on April 08, 2005 in Cambodia. The World Trade Organization recently abolished textile quotas and, as a result, some of the world's smallest and least developed countries like Cambodia will see their textile industries pushed out to the periphery. Moreover, in 2005, a unique agreement that grants Cambodian garments and textiles exclusive access to lucrative US markets will expire, opening up the garment industry to competition with every other manufacturing country in the world.
